In January, the Correctional Investigator of Canada, Dr. Ivan Zinger, reported that the number of Indigenous people in prison has reached historic highs. In Alberta, a committee of the Criminal Trial Lawyer Association has called for a mass pardon for non-violent Indigenous inmates.
